If you have ddr3 go for a haswell i5 like the 4460, or 4690k, if not go for skylake 6500, or 6600k, and ddr4 to overclock you need a "k" series cpu and a z97(haswell), or z170(skylake) motherboard, but the h97/h110 motherboards are good budget options.

think i'm gonna stick with the ga-h97m-d3h, instead of buying a new 970 to sli, i may just buy a 1080 in the future, thanks for the replies =D
