PureVPN DDoS Protection

I just needed to ask real quick if anybody knows if Pure VPN's DDoS protection is a separate download or is just apart of the original program that they have you download. Sorry im really new to this VPN.

I can't see how rerouting the outgoing/incoming traffic into VPN protects you from receiving the DDos packets to your router from the internet. The customer assistant couldn't answer this question either.

If the IP targeted is that of the VPN then they will protect you from a DDoS attack since they can detect it as it's happening and stop it there. If the attacker gets your actual IP address that the modem/router has then there is nothing their DDoS protection will do to prevent the attack.
