Hello, I am having an odd issue with my WiFi Card. I am using a PC that I built about one year ago. I have a WiFi card installed, that had been working without issue. However, today my WiFi started dropping randomly. The WiFi connection does not say limited and I am still connected, but trying to load any webpage fails. I am using Windows 10. Does anyone know what is going on?

Does connecting the computer directly to the router solve the issue?

It sounds like your internet was dropping not your WiFi?

Unfortunately, every other device connected to the network has no issues, except for my PC.

My PC is very far from my router, so that would take a while to test.

It probably is the Wi-Fi adapter, mine does the same randomly. I think that is either the drivers or the adapter itself dying

Haha drivers.... the latest WiFi adapter drivers for my card are 3 years old and only officially support Windows 8.

The card worked perfect until today, I didn't change any drivers. :(

Doesn't matter if you changed it or not. Ive had issues similar. Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the latest driver.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Then I would say the adapter is dead or Windows 10 just doesnt like it.

Check that the card is not overheating, I have seen that happen on pic's I have worked on. With summer rolling in it would be the ideal time for that to happen. If possible move it as far from your GPU's as possible or consider a side fan

I've moved the card as far as possible from the GPU, but to no avail.

I've also just discovered that disconnecting and reconnecting to the WiFi network fixes the issue for a few minutes. Does this help at all?

Have you tried leaving your router off for a few minutes then powering up again to see if that helps? Also does any other device have issues?

Windows 10 has been known to silently update drivers so try rolling back your WIFI driver in device manager.

Another thing to check would be if your are on the right band on your WIFI depending on your router your WIFI card may be searching for 5ghz when you may only have 2.4 or its roaming for signal could be too aggressive. To check these they will be in your WIFI cards properties in device manager.

1) No other device has the issue, so it is just my PC.

2) Unfortunately, the roll back button is grayed out.

3) Both my router and my WiFi card are operating at 2.4GHz

I'm thinking that I need a new adapter. I currently have a Gigabyte one, and am looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HF8K0O6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER to replace it. Does this look like a good option? I need the adapter to have a black PCB so it does not ruin the look of my system.

Ive seen people suggest that one before. I personally have not used it. However I would say it would work. The Plus side is the antenna is not directly on the card and is connected via extension cables. You will have more of an opportunity to place the antenna in the best place for signal.

Thanks, I'll look into purchasing it.
