I have a very small time frame, I need the get the new GPU around the 20th so I can clear it through customs before I fly back to South Africa, I want to get a GTX 1080 and I was hoping to get the EVGA 1080 FTW especially since it said in stock by June 16th, that moved to June 25th now so now that is a no-go.

I need to know if it's worth just buying a regular GTX 1080 Founders Edition, it's not like it's bad in any way it's just that the other aftermarket cards will be better cooling/power and juice wise but my choices are incredibly limited.

Of course if there is an aftermarket card that gets in stock prior to finalizing my decision, I'll go for it, but I won't suffer in any way by just going with a reference card will I?

Some people have already started complaining about the reference card being too loud and hot therefore thermal throttling.

People who complain their card is "too loud" should take my ATI HD 5770 for a run.... That's loud....

FE reached 40dB under full load. Also, too hot = GTX 480 and too loud = HD6990.

If you don't have the time for an aftermarket 1080, then you don't really have a choice except the FE versions. Everyone complains about them being too loud and the cards thermal throttling, but if you adjust the fan curves (easy to do) then the card won't throttle. It will make some good noise though. I'd recommend headphones.
