Hi, ive recently put together a gaming pc and in a few months im thinking of upgrading the CPU.

My current CPU is the X4 860K, so if i went for an upgrade it would have to be an FM2+ CPU, such as: the A10 7850K (which is the best AMD FM2+ CPU at the moment if i can remember)

Or should I get rid of my Motherboard and CPU and go for an Intel build, however which would cost me a bit of money to buy which id rather spend on games.

So do you think the 7850K would be a good enough upgrade and would be good for gaming or should i go for something different?

The A10 7850k is literally the same as the 860k, just with graphics. What GPulU do you currently have?

The 7850k isn't really much better than the athlon, except that it has an iGPU. I would either keep your current CPU or go to an intel platform.

AMD = Good 4-8Core cheap CPU's while Intel = Good High end 4-12Core

Does seem like you're on a budget. the x4 860k can still play games moderately okay. Zen is coming out.. but it'll be some time. like Q4 2016 or q1 2017. If you wanna wait for the new cpus then you can. But if you truely can't wait then getting an Intel cpu might be worth it

oh and also for under $80AUD the Intel Pentium G3258+good cooler+5Ghz Overclock = Beast?

I was going to go with the Pentium at first but games were starting to need 4 cores so i thought the 860k would be a good choice.

Btw i can play all games with Pentium, no trouble. IDK what this all that stuff about the 4 core thing.

Yeah, well ill try and get over to Intel as fast as i can, as the 860K gets very hot and i think Intel is better for gaming anyway.

I don't recommend the Pentium all that much. It's the same performance as the 860 or you won't be gaining much. If it's getting hot, upgrade the cooler for 20 bucks USD and overclock it to no end. :P

try and get the wraith cooler from AMD if you can, that is 20-50% more effective

They get hot with the old stock cooler put a 212 evo, or the new wraith cooler and there wouldn't be any issues with it.

If anything for gaming go for an i5.
