So here is my build so far,

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor(215$)
Motherboard: MSI H170A Gaming Pro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($109.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Kingston FURY 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($40.59 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($79.25 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($29.99 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit  ($85.95 @ Amazon)
Keyboard: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse  ($28.99 @ Amazon)
GPU: RX 480 ($200.00)
Total: $839.75

I'm planning to order the parts tomorrow and use it as a normal desktop until I get my GPU. I am probably going to get an SSD for my b-day as well.

Is my motherboard good or is there a better option?

Is it worth getting the 500B PSU even though my estimated wattage is about 300w?

Is downgrading to an i5 6500 actually worth the decrease in performance? (I saw that it was about ten percent worse?)

Will I need to buy thermal paste?

Any other tips?

motherboard is good, I5 6500 is IMO worth it but if you have the money then go for the 6600

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
