Simple question really, starting to getting another build idea put together for a Micro atx build to maybe replace my current mid tower atx build at some point. Currently I'm thinking that my i5 4690k is perfect fine for gaming, as I have yet to have a hiccup at all. Is this still true or are there more reason now to upgrade to an i7 cpu? Most likely a 6700k.

the 4690K is still awesome, no need to upgrade

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

For gaming only, no reason to do any kind of cpu upgrade with what you already have, its still very good for games and won't bottleneck any single gpu graphics card.

Upgrading to a Skylake i5/i7 would get you a small 10% or so performance boost, which would probably go unnoticed in most cases. I'd stick with the 4690K for at least one more generation - or at least wait to see what Zen performs like.
