The Z170 Pro Gamer from Asus, while a little lower end, I found to work pretty well. If you want/need the feature or looks of the maximus, it would definitely be a good motherboard. MSI motherboards generally have a good black and red theme with some of gigabyte's higher end boards as well.

I am planning on buying a GTX 1080 as well as the i7-6700K and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. However I'm not sure what motherboard to buy. As the title said, its mainly a gaming pc and editing (Photoshop and some video editing and Rendering).

 

I was planning on buying the Maximus Hero VIII(Currently have the MAximus Hero VII and I am extremely happy with it). Should I get this? or get like a Z170 Gaming mobo? Help and suggestions please. (RAM Suggestions would be appreciated also)

I love my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 board. There Z170's have the black/red color scheme. You really just need to figure out what your needs are on the board, IE, m.2 Sata, sound, usb etc to decide on which board you will want.
