Streaming through one network, running the rest of my PC on another

CGurrell

Hey Guys,

So from Monday I'm looking to start streaming on twitch a lot more. To do this, as my home internet only has a 1mbps upload speed, I'm going to be using my phone's personal hotspot, which has an upload speed of around 6mbps and a 30GB data cap.

My question is, is there a way to force OBS (streaming software) to use my personal hotspot, whilst having everything else running thru my home internet? I don't want to eat up most of my 30GB allowance through services like Nightbot's song request service, or even games. I'd rather have them running through my home internet and reserve the hotspot allowance solely for the streaming usage.

A few things about my setup:

I have a PCI-E Wireless card I can use to connect to my hotspot, or I can tether via USB, though I would prefer to go wireless so I can have my phone charging whilst using the hotspot. Charging over USB doesn't seem to give enough power to sustain battery life. My phone will be literally right next to my PC so this shouldn't be an issue.

My home internet is wired via some onnetworks powerline adapters. (the ones you plug into the wall to use existing wiring as ethernet). I can go wireless if need be, but again I'd prefer to use the wireless card for connecting to my phone.

I am running Windows 10 Education, meaning I have access to Hyper-V Virtual Machine technology, and actually have a windows 10 virtual machine set up. I would rather not do this though as it can be quite taxing

If I have missed any important info out, please let me know.

Chris
