I have the first edition of GEA, definitely a good choice. Been looking to get the second edition if I could find a cheap used copy.

First edition was definitely fantastic, Jason Gregory has done a few presentations as well all of which are very informational and entertaining so I have high hopes for the second edition.

Still an excellent book and worth the read but a lot of the book is essentially "write C++, not C." If you don't have "Effective Modern C++" and "More Effective C++" I would get them first.

That's good to know. I will probably get them all eventually but Ill take your recommendation and start with Modern or More Effective.
