I am trying to window capture on my laptop but i get a black screen.

Specs:
5700HQ
970M
8GB RAM
512GB SSD

I have my laptop hooked up to a 144hz monitor and set that monitor as default (aka in display settings "show on 2 only")

Things i have tried:
1) Running as admin
2) Running in compatibility mode in OBS
3) Running in windows 7 and 8 compatibility mode/s
4) Set the GPU to integrated for chrome and OBS in nvidia control panel
5) Inner vs Entire window

Nothing has changed, still get a black screen. Please help.

Thanks.

If the application is in full screen mode, try using Game Capture.

If the application is in Windowed or Borderless mode, try Game Capture or Window Capture.

Try to avoid using Monitor Capture, as it is very wasteful of resources. It is the only way to capture your entire screen as you see it, however, and is a necessary evil.

Have you tried setting everything up with whatever you're going to capture running before you start capturing?

I had an issue when I was doing some capturing in OBS and one of the recordings came out with a black screen because I didn't start the capture with the component that was originally selected when I configured everything.
