Anyone delid their CPU?

I'm running a 3570K with a Hyper 212 and at 4.4Ghz my CPU can easily hit 90°C at 1.256v. I know ivy bridge CPUs run hot because Intel screwed up the tim under the IHS and I'm thinking about replacing it but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure I could do it and I've seen videos online of it being done but I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about deliding a CPU.

I remember that delidding 3570k gave some major improvements in terms of temps. Soo, you decide...

Just to add on, if you don't want to risk putting a blade to your cpu, there's a tool from Der8uer called the Delid-Die-Mate. Helps you delid your cpu with a few cranks. It's pretty pricey tho

 

And yeah ivy bridge runs hot because of the TIM

Yeah that's Der8auer's Delid-Die-Mate which works on the same principle as the vice method. Again, pretty pricey for us who don't usually delid many cpus tho. Think it was  £62.99?

double edit: Linus's video is a joke with very little info.  Ivy can really benefit from a delidding.  The biggest factor is removing the glue that was used on the IHS, and you'll really only see a good, lasting benefit when using a liquid metal TIM like liquid pro or ultra

I did LOL.

The CPU was my actual Xeon E3-1220V3 (the CPU i had more fun with in a long time), i cleaned the old thermal paste (by the time it had turned into a rock) and applied a dab of Arctic MX4 on it, improved around 6°-7°C with my H55 AIO

probaby not your best source, but i delidded a P4 to make the lid into a keychain.

 

even with my barbaric tools it was a surprisingly easy job. just requires some brass balls (+1 if you get the reference) and lots of patience.
