It's a High Power / Sirtec / Sirfa Element Smart unit internally. I would take a past on that unit and get the CX550M instead or spend a little more for the EVGA Supernova 550w GS / G2 or Corsair RM550x.

http://pcpartpicker.com/product/TgW9TW/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze Much better internal quality, fully modular and around the same price.

I was wondering if there are any recommendations for modular PSU's that are equal or slightly better than this on : http://pcpartpicker.com/product/TgW9TW/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze I found this one, but it's not modular

That´s modular?

And that makes it a good unit does it ?

I used the psu for well over a year and never had any problems and it ran in a high performing machine, it is a good psu. Theres nothing proving against this.

Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it's top of the line. Lots of people use CX power supplies and it's well known that they're not top of the line.  Any site that does tests on over current protection, ripple suppression, etc. will be able to actually objectively confirm or refute claims that your PSU is "good".  I don't have said links, but maybe someone else does...

That´s not how you determine something´s quality. Not only is it unscientific, the thing is $65. I could get the GQ for just $4 more, which is not only Gold rated efficiency, but of much higher quality: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/kz7CmG/evga-power-supply-210gq0650

Or I could get the M12ll from Seasonic, which is cheaper, and of much better quality: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/TgW9TW/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze

@STRMfrmXMN

Already checked. It´s very mediocre. With PSUs like the GQ for $4 more, or the M12ll for about $4 less, not worth it at all.

"I've used it for X amount of time, therefor it's good" is the same logic intoxicated people use to justify driving themselves somewhere while under the influence. See that flaw in that logic?

The "green logo" CX series is mediocre quality, best suited to a no GPU system or, say, a 260X+ Athlon system. They're have an ambient temperature tolerance of 30C which is quite low, and although the 3rd revision of them fixed this, they have the same model names so unless the SKU is checked you can pay money for a decent 3rd gen and buy a first gen. The "grey logo" CX is quite good nowadays and I can recommend it, somewhere up to a GTX 970 system.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Here is a review summary of the 700W version that says otherwise.

Still think it's a good psu ?
