Hello!

When I booted up my pc this morning, it said something about having a harddrive problem (I have a ssd, and a harddrive). I then went to bios, and booted from my ssd (thats where it should usually boot from), and it booted up fine. Then, after getting logged on, some notifications popped up. Here is one: https://gyazo.com/717d71992d8f6e978a86d840623726dc

And the other said I should backup my harddrive as it may have problems.

What should I do (other than backup my harddrive)?

Thanks!

As you said, back up your hard drive and then run some drive testing software that verifies it as working (sorry, don't have any examples).

If it comes up as being bad, and if it's still in warranty, contact the manufacturer or place of purchase of your drive and get another one sent to you.

Hello :)

I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Storage problems often cause a lot of headaches especially when important data is involved.

If you have any data that you don't want to lose I'd also suggest backing it up on another storage drive so you are on the safe side that you won't lose it.

Then, I'd run some diagnostic tools from the manufacturer to see if the drive passes the tests. Running chkdsk /r from the CMD is also an option as the system will check the drive's health and if there are any problematic sectors and the data from them (that can be retrieved) will be reallocated on healthy sectors. Have in mind that if a drive starts to have bad sectors it will eventually fail so it's recommended that you exchange it with a healthy one.

Checking the raw values of the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status can also give you a pretty decent information regarding its condition. If you are not sure how to read them feel free to post them here and we will help you out. :)

Note that any testing on the drive may further damage it in case it has a physical problem.

What's the drive's brand and model?

Post back with some results!
