anyone care to speculate for me how long I should be good for at 1440p 144hz high settings with my 980tis

obvs I no I won't get 144hx in all games because I already don't 

but like 60 fps minimum at high setting and like 2x msaa

 

i no we can't tell the future of gaming but do u think I will 3 years ? It longer ? 

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

h110 pull - acer xb270hu 1440p -

It obviously depends on the title. they differ so massively in how well they run, especially with SLI. My experiences with top-tier cards in SLI is around 2 years with high to max settings, from then you're going to have to start stepping down your settings.

I've thought of getting a second 980ti but have heard so many negative reviews. What are your thoughts as someone who runs SLI?

 

On topic, if you just look at a single 980ti you're good for a few years at least. A 980ti matches a 1070 and so figure the same life span.

I'm well happy with the 2 in Sli 

max every game atm with x4 or x8 msaa with 80fps plus at ultra 

when I oc to 1480mhz I'm well over 95 fps

in everything 

 

there's nothing I can't run at 1440p ultra and adaquet anti aliasing 

i have none of the Sli issues people bang on about on ltt 

just better fps 

like litterly 80 percent scaling In most games

Then I see no reason for concern. Honestly, worst case scenario in a year Nvidia drops support and you drop some settings. By then driver support might be less of an issue anyway.

Do u think nvdia will drop driver support ?

That's their MO, look at the 780 and 780ti. Take any game made after the 980ti launched and test a driver from when the 780ti was new, and the most recent driver. No change in performance. Which sometimes isn't a big deal, and other times it is. But, Pascal is just a die shrink on Maxwell, so we might get lucky. Like the 200 series was because the 300 series was just a refresh with AMD. Only time will tell.

SLI is fine. I have never had an issue and if the game doesn't support it then one card is enough to max it out
