upgrading cpu mobo

bdub109

I am wanting to upgrade my rig.  My cpu is mainly what I want to do next but of course I'm going to need a mobo to go with it and probably new ram.  I plan on using my current gpu, aio cooler, powersupply fans and maybe same case.

So of course I have to go intel if I want any decent results from the fx6300.  Question is do i go lga 1151 with the i7-6700k or go with 2011 v3 and go with a 5820k.  My main concern besides performance now is upgradeability. I know with the 1151 kaby lake is close but with the 2011 I could eventually do a 5960x or a broad well E cpu.  My case will likely have to be upgraded as I can do Matx, but I think that will leave me less room for upgrades as i want to do at least dual nanos and full custom loop eventually.  May even do 3 or 4 nanos by the time I'm done.  I am considering atx at this point and the new in win 303 looks interesting to me.  I also like the look of smaller cases so maybe a micro atx mobo that can actually fit dual gpus would be nice as i could use my air 240 for now and try to custom water cool in it.  I think i would just be better doing atx tho as there are much more choioces.  Id like to stay 800-1000 for cpu mobo and possibly case for now.  Looks are somewhat important as well I was thinking the white and blue version of the in win 303 would look nice with a matching color scheme on the mobo with some blue ram and painting my nano to look like the white version, eventually the fan and heatsink will be removed for a full water block tho.

Here is my current build

I was thinking I could do x99 with a 5820 and save up for a high end broadwell-e comes out. Would help with the upgrade bug I need to let out but will allow me to upgrade still. Sounds like a good plan?

I would just hold off completely for now and save your money for the 6950X when it comes out (hopefully by august). Saves you money and your computer is more than capable of holding out until then. Plus a bunch of makers just released some new Mobos as well so you may want to check those out too.

yea ive been meaning to buy some custom cables just havnt got around to it.  I do have two cable mod led strips, my kids love playing with the remote and change the colors.  If I had to do it over I would of done the nzxt hue as you can do multiple colors at the same time as with the cable mods its one color at a time.

it will take me some time to come up with the 1700+ for the 6950x and I would really like to do something now that I have the money set aside for it.  At least with a x99 and 5820 id get a performance boost and will only have to upgrade the cpu right?
