Hey d00ds,

Making a new build for my mom. She takes a lot of pictures which she does little to no editing on. She jsut doesn't understand the technology very well and has difficulty keeping things organized.

The build she's been working on now is about nine years old so were ready to make something completely new.

I'm thinking I want to do a NUC with like a 256GB SD and 8GB RAM... i5. The thing I really want to do for her though is have a SIMPLE to use web connected storage device or server for her that can be remotely managed by me. RAID is a bonus, but doesn't have to be there right off the bat (start with one drive and add a second). I want her to be able to access all her photos anywhere. I've heard mixed reviews about the WD My Cloud Devices. What are your experiences? Anything with dedicated graphics preferred... x50 series at least.

What would you recommendations be for brand of the barebones nuc and the storage system?

Thanks!
-Matt

well i'd recommend this:

since it's small and can use desktop processors :) (by desktop processors i don't mean the knee capped T and S series)

you don't have to install OSX, just follow the build guide :)

(not a barebones unit but way better)

pcpp with an i3 since she probably doesn't need an i5:
