So I know A LOT of people have asked the question being whether or not to sell their 980ti and get a 1080, I'm asking this question too just for different reasons other than performance. So I originally had a MSI 980ti Gaming 6G until it started artifacting so I sent it back and they sent me a terrible refurbished card so they then got me a deal with giving me a brand new 980ti Lightning card. So my deal is here is would it be worth it to sell my 980ti Lightning card for a 1080. My first reason is I don't do any overclocking which is exactly what the card is made to do, it uses two 8 pins and a 6 pin which looks bad in my case with a non-modular power supply, it uses a lot more power than a 1080 does, and it is really big in my micro ATX case. So sorry if this question is getting a little annoying and I hope I can get cut some slack since my situation is a little different, but thanks (Also I'm playing at 1080p so I'd be fine both ways right?).

Keep your 980ti. Focus on upgrading your monitor to a 1440p 144hz / Ultrawide / 4k first before you think of a GPU upgrade.

At 1080p, a GTX 1080 would be throwing your money away. It's designed for at least 1440p and up. A 980Ti will serve you well for a few years assuming no mechanical defect. True, your aesthetics may improve and power efficiency would increase, but is it worth the jump from an already Maxwell flagship? In my opinion no, but it's your rig in the end. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Thank you for your thoughts! I wouldn't notice a big difference in my power bill right?

I wouldn't think so, but then your PSU wattage and efficiency comes into play as well. Frankly, I wouldn't worry too much about the 980Ti; it's a solid card and is top-of-the-line for the Maxwell architecture, and will power through many games today and into the future. To put it into perspective, some people I know are still using Keplar which was the one previous to Maxwell and they play most of their games at 1080p with no issues. If you would like to get into 4K and beyond, then consider the 1080. But for 1080p and 1440p, you should be fine in my opinion.

If I had GTX 980 Ti, I would upgrade to GTX 1080 even thoguh I'm using 1440p monitor at 75Hz.

It would only make any difference at 4K gaming.
