Choose between these 3 options

Good morning!

 

I have around 1200$CAD budget to upgrade my gaming to 1440p(gpu plus monitor) (I currently play on a gtx 780 DCU2 OC).I have 3 options in front of me:

 

1. Buy a gtx 1080 FE(or wait for the custom cards) for roughly 920$CAD + taxes (15% here) = I have the money to buy it but almost no left over to buy a decent 1440p monitor so I would have so save some extra $ in the coming weeks.

 

2. Buy a used(only 2 days's worth apparently) Asus Strix 980ti OC for 600$CAD no tax = Assuming the card is in perfect condition as the seller implies that would leave quite a bit of money to buy a decent 1440p monitor.

 

3. Wait for the 1070 benchmarks and the CAD prices.

 

What would be the best value while letting me achieve my goal? I'm aiming for 60fps at ultra/very high settings for hopefully a couple of years. I'm not aiming at 4k for the foreseeable future.

 

Maybe I'm overestimating the 980ti or undersestimating the 1080...you tell me!

Wait for 1070.

Possible 4th option, hold out for Polaris and get a card that´s 380 cost for Fury Performance?

The 980ti is amazing for 1440p and so is the 1080. The cards won't even be pushing it that hard. If you do 4K then the 1080 would be more powerful but you have to justify is 10% better worth the extra money

Just keeping this here as a Wait for GTX 1070 and then grab a cheap GTX 980ti on the used market...these cards will perform very similar and it's MORE than enough for 1440p gaming...my 980ti strix can max out just about any games at 80FPS+ @ 2560x1440
