It's just advertising' date=' you can use what ever graphics card you want as long as it has the slots for it.[/quote']

well not all boards support SLI/Crossfire

also OP id suggest getting a Radeon HD7950 over the 660ti typically priced around the same but it will perform roughly on par with a 670.

Unless he uses CUDA going with the 660ti is just being a fanboy and that never gets anyone anywhere. 660ti is a capable chip but its really bad for the price the radeon cards are offering a whole lot more performance at the same price along with a memory bus the dosent cripple the card.

like i side going with a 660 ti 0r a 680 not radeon i my self use a evga 680 classified and a i5 3570k his useing amd only cuz its cheap

just asking but why an APU and a dedicated card? thats probably the worst choice anyone could make, fair enough if you already have it and need a little more GPU power but if not your better off geting something like a Pentium G860 on a H77/B75 board

id suggest changing the case then and the PSU if that not already being done, as im sure you know HP have some horrible cooling and a taste for Diablotek (or similar horrible quality) PSU's

Yeah I know that, it says in it's specs it supports Crossfire nothing about Sli so to be safe you probably want to go Radeon instead of risk it and it not be compatible. Also I have to agree to recommend a Radeon because you can hybrid sli it with the APU. Although either card choice you go with will be more than sufficient.

7950/7970. Driver issues are a thing of the past (obviously bugs happen), they are just as good as if not better than Nvidia's drivers these days

Hey,

It seems that board is kinda AMD exclusive, so it doesn't accept SLI.

You wouldn't be able to run two 660 Ti's in it, but you'd be able to run a single one just fine.

660 Ti's are sexy cards and can run pretty much everything comfortable at 1080p. If you want all the performance you can get, go for the 680, but I'd spend that money elsewhere. Sound cards, an extra SSD.

If you decide to go with a Radeon, go all out and get a 7970 because they are wicked sexy considering their price. Do be aware that they are pretty loud, and pretty hot, though.

That's up to you, though (or your cousin).

Good luck with the build!

As single 660ti would work fine on this board but you there is no sli support on this Board.

The only thing you lose by going Radeon is PhysX If you look at a similar range card the performance is almost identical. The good thing is though you can hybrid it and you will gain a little bit more performance. Even a 7870 is more affordable and has just a little less performance than a 660Ti, The hybrid crossfire would probably more than make up for the tiny loss.

For the pure sake of your cousin, I'd say go with a 7970. Enjoy insane performance at a decent price, and if he feels like it, he can add a second 7970 later (perhaps unlikely, but it seems your budget here is quite decent).

Even if he doesn't intend to expand his GPU array at all, the 7970 will deliver the most performance at a slightly lower price than the GTX 680.

All brand are good. Most 660ti are all the same underneath the flashy labels and plastic

well he dose plan on upgrading to a 3570k and a z77 bord in a few months the only reson he wants a fm2 bord for now is cuz he has a amd 5500 cpu and dose not have the money for a z77 bord or a 3570k as of right now

What's he using for a monitor? If its a single 1080 - grab a 670 or a 7950. Those that you linked are amongst the top performing AMD cards and its quite a lot of money to spend.
