But the file and folder issues are recent, was it just a ticking time bomb?

yes, i have seen multiple cases of windows seeming fine for weeks or months, then a user starts noticing issues

sometimes i found out the user installed a windows update, and thats what made the OS issues apparent

other times it just randomly appears after a while

this is why I always recommend people clean install windows, but it seems like sometimes it can happen even with a clean install

:(

unfortunately

maybe someone else has had this issue in the past and knows a fix, but afaik a clean install is the only way

Over the past month or so my Windows 10 has been doing some strange stuff, first it I have a freezing issue, the left screen goes black and the pc stops responding requireing a restart. Secondly it likes to kill file explorer, when I would right click on anything in file explorer, folder, and any type of file, file explorer would freeze requireing me to restart file explorer. Thirdly, now I cannot rename any folders, files are fine, its just folders, an image of the folder renaiming issue is attached. Lastly CMD sfc /snannow finds errors but says it cant fix them, image also attached.

Im on Windows 10 latest version.
Clean install onto new SSD.

Get a free copy of windows 10 on Microsoft's website and place it on a flash drive..

Then extract it and shutdown the PC.

Once it's shutdown plug the flash drive in and spam F12 or DELETE until brought to the BIOS screen

Then select Boot Device and choose your flash drive

This will boot the computer with that and you can reinstall windows

WHEN YOU INSTALL WINDOWS TO YOUR FLASH DRIVE IT TAKE A WHILE

some flipped bit in the OS

very common if you clone/upgrade/downgrade windows

idk why it happened to you during a clean install, maybe a defective USB drive or something

The clean install still has the CMD issue, I will have to find a different USB drive and do it again another time.

it could possibly be an issue with the USB drive you're using

or the files that the tool put on the USB got corrupted
