Sata Cables

Do i need to buy any sata cables to build a new PC or does it come with the HDD/SSD

BTW i am getting a WD Blue 1TB HDD and a Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD

one or two typically comes with the motherboard

Your motherboard comes with sata cables.

well my motherboard is a ASRock H170 Fatal1ty Performance. Does this have two sata cables or will i need to buy one

Usually mother boards or sometimes HDD's will come with a cable (mostly not for HDD's though).

 

If not they can be picked up really inexpensively, especially on Amazon.

 

And don't be fooled with the more expensive ones... a SATA cable is a SATA cable it doesn't need special contacts or shielding... The only thing worth paying extra for is colour, custom sleeving or an adjustable head for awkward places in your case. If you are not concerned by these then a $5 cable will do just fine!

and if you have any "SATA I" or "SATA II" cables lying around, those work just fine too since all SATA cables are actually the same

no this is my first build so i wont have any spare
