Oddball website issue

Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

It might be a cloudflare issue - we have previously had problems (during the GitHub DDoS I think) where traffic from some Cloudflare datacenters were just getting a 522 error, while the site was actually absolutely fine. Try opening a support ticket with them, but don't necessarily expect a useful response from it.

If it is a cloudflare issue though, there isn't much you can do to fix it aside from waiting or not using Cloudflare.

Today is turning out to be the worst day this week and my website decided it would contribute to my suffering.

Upon attempting to access http://crow-media.com (or any subdomains, for that matter), Cloudflare spits out a nice little 522 error.

I have managed to confirm the lack of access from multiple sources, spanning all major ISPs in the country (Romania, to be more precise).

I have checked with my host (GoDaddy, unfortunately, because I can't be bothered to migrate or pay for hosting) and everything works just fine.

I then checked with Cloudflare and everything seems fine.

I thin proceeded, on a whim, to turn TunnelBear on and see if I can access the website from another country. Lo and behold, it works from every single country that TunnelBear offers VPNs from.

Currently out of ideas and, as such, I find myself turning to the overmind that is the interwebs for a solution.

I have acess

Like I said, I managed to access the site via VPN from a handful of countries. it's national ISPs that seem to have a problem with it.

One of my watchdogs managed to get access from a national ISP a few minutes ago.

What's even stranger is what tracert returns:

C:\Windows\system32>tracert crow-media.com

Tracing route to crow-media.com [104.28.19.65]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 * * * Request timed out.
  2 8 ms 5 ms 9 ms adsl92-86-59-1.romtelecom.net [92.86.59.1]
  3 12 ms 12 ms 11 ms 10.0.226.13
  4 13 ms 58 ms 12 ms 10.0.246.45
  5 12 ms 15 ms 15 ms 10.0.200.113
  6 17 ms 12 ms 12 ms 10.0.244.114
  7 12 ms 12 ms 12 ms 80.97.248.54
  8 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms 104.28.19.65

Trace complete.

That leads me to believe it's a local problem, within my own network (or maybe ISP), but it still doesn't explain why people from outside my ISP (and, therefore, my network) can't connect either.

Already talked to Cloudflare and they don't seem to get the point. They said there isn't any issue on their side and that I should talk to the host

Cover me in HPHT and call me a biscuit.

After setting Cloudflare on pause and in development mode I've finally managed to get in. Looks like Cloudflare support should get their craniums out from between their Glutei Maximi and offer actual support instead of finger pointing.

Marking as solved and going to cancel my $20/mo plan and stick to the free one ._.
