Ok so I've been enjoying linus and the crew for a while and noticed he always ends after post. I'm a new builder and my comp components are coming in tomorrow and was wondering what to do after it posts and we move it back into the case. Also how do you shut it off after you check the post. Since you start it with a metal contact. Does he or the othees have a post post video other than installing the os or is that all you do XD.  Thanks for the help guys and gals. And yes you can redicule me for being a noob just wait till after the help =P

to turn off after post without a power switch, switch the psu off (rocker switch at the back), or unplug it.

after i get a computer to post and built i check through the bios making sure all my drives are detected and set to what it should be, Sata mode to ahci, ram and cpu running the correct speeds and timings, fan modes set correctly, etc.

then just install a os.

Oh ok just didn't know if that was like a hard shut down or not. And I take it you get the speeds and timing from the cpu website Or box manual?

One more question friend. When testing post should I plug into on board video or can I use my graphics card video output

When testing post always use onboard video as it allows you to verify whether that is working and allows for less error as you could otherwise be confused by a potentially faulty video card.. Newer motherboards show post codes so this really should't matter much beyond checking if video outputs are functioning.
