It's a new rig 

MB: Asus z170m plus

CPU Intel i5 

ram kingston hyper x 8gig single channel

Psu evga 500w non modular 

Gpu evga 960 

 

 

so it it powers up but does not output a display 

have tried removing Gpu ram as well as any other things

only thing on mb is CPU 

reset cmos

I would try swapping the ends of the cable around. As in, the end of the cable that is in the GPU, you should try swapping to the port on your monitor and vice versa. It may sound simple, but it can actually work sometimes. And if that method doesn't work, then I would try using a different connection.

Are you 100% sure that he monitor and the GPU both work it. It would be pretty unlikely if they are new and don't work, but hey, I don't know your scenario. But if you are unsure if they work or not then put them into another system and see if they work or not.
