upgrade vid card or monitor first

I am currently playing all games at 1080p with fantastic results on my current build. I am wondering if I should upgrade my monitor before I upgrade my video card? I will be waiting to see what the 1070 does so I have a little bit of time.

Yups... ;)  go research Gaming benchmarks for your Card at 2560 x 1440 or 4k. 1070 might not be enough for 4k

First you upgrade GPU, then monitor if you ask me.

So if you upgrade to 4K now, you will have a lot of lagg untill you buy new GPU.

But if you buy new GPU now, you will have great performance at 1080p, and when you get 4K, you won't have lagg there because you already have GTX 1080.

I did buy 1440p monitor when I still had R9 270X ... had to buy R9 390 soon, because FPS drops and spikes were killing me xD

Well I just posted my benchmark of R9 390 nitro on 1440p ultra setting in valley. average is 40fps.So if you concider that cool, go for it.

But I would advice not to play on ultra, and turn down settings a bit so you can get decet 60 fps :)
