This thread isn't to complain about anything let me get that across first. It's just to ask a question.

 

Question: Why does the forum use IPB rather than MYBB?

 

I feel that MYBB is a lot more customizable and looks a lot better than IPB (of course with a custom theme and some plugins like tabs and recent posts). The only thing I see that IPB has over mybb is the security of it compared to mybb although mybb is fairly secure.

 

What are your thoughts on mybb vs ipb?

I think it was because IPB was very helpful in cleaning up the VB-mess, but I might be mistaken. I also think IPB has a great track record when it comes to large forums and stability

Mybb probably has a better reputation I mean look at hackforums, leakforums, and l33t forums

Not sure how something can be "more customizable", when any forum software is infinitely customizable.

 

Looking through the MYBB page it looks very much like an amateur built and designed the base system, I would personally never trust something like that (though I seldom use pre-built systems for anything). Looking at IPBs website, on the other hand, it feels much more refined and professional.
