Recently I got a Dell Powerdge 1900 from work. It's awesome, but it's really big and VERY heavy. Not to mention that it's really loud

I was thinking about keeping the CPU's and drives, and buying a smaller case and motherboard.

I'm not totally sure what CPU socket it has, but everything I can find says it has an Intel LGA-771 CPU Socket

Could I buy this Supermicro Server board and use my server in a smaller case? It has no add-on cards in it, just drives.

I'm most likely going to put Linux on it, too. What would you guys recommend?
