i5 6500 & CM 212 Evo

CandleJakk

Hi all, will the CM 212 Evo work with the i5 6500 on this mobo: http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1151/h110chipset/Gigabyte/GA-H110M-S2H.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw3-W5BRCymr_7r7SFt8cBEiQAsLtM8rf6mrTkUodrK4LjC4MQikiQSanRZTFoxAn_fwV55v4aAtQl8P8HAQ#utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products ?

Also, is it hard to install a cooler (i am 110% noob) and if it is could you link a video that could apply to me?

Thanks!

It will, unless your case is small or very cramped.

There are better coolers than the 212 Evo available at this price point like the be quiet! Pure Rock and Cryorig H7.

From salty to bath salty in 2.9 seconds

It will work for CPU. Installing may be bit challenging, but read manual and you'll be fine.

212 Evo is too tall for it. Max clearance for CPU cooler is 155mm, 212 is 159mm. H7 from Cryorig would fit (145mm) if you can get it in your region.

Ah, I see; will this one fit?

edit: unfortunately cannot find the H7 in the UK :(

It will be tight but just might do. Pure Rock is 155mm.

Sidenote, you can get all height for cooler in manufacturers product page. For cases some have clearance marked on product page. Rest needs to be googled for good reviews or reference pics.

Ah... I do not really feel like risking the fit as it is my parents paying for this and don't want to mess anything up as they will think I am not doing a good job. What cooler would you recommend for the same price with a "safer" fitting height?

Thanks for your help so far :)

Well, there's not much else which would perform same. CoolerMaster TX3 is closest. Its also good cooler, but will be 5-10C hotter than 212 Evo or Pure Rock would. If you aren't planning on heavy OC, it will do just fine. I haven't read much reviews about Akasa or Arctic coolers (from two stores you linked), so can't really say if they would perform well.

I see - will consider this!

I have another question if you still have time, is this cooler good?

It will fit but I'm not sure if it will be better than the stock cooler?? It has good reviews, though.

It will be better than stock. Any tower cooler is better than stock. But TX3 is better from those two. I have bought one Arctic fan and didn't really like the noise it made at full speed.
