It's between the 4670 and the 520. If you have em both, test em.

If you have a skylake w/ the 520, and you're contemplating buying the 4670, stick with the 520 for now.

Is 4-8 gigs enough?

Speed is more important, but 4 is ok. 8 is preferable.

The laptop could be slightly better depending on it's cooling

I'd say 8 gigs would be good, but integrated graphics also benefits from ram speed

If i couldnt get my hands on a skylake laptop with intel 520 graphics would the intel 5500 graphics still be good? And how do those compare to the 4670?

Considering that the 9800gt slightly trails the hd4600, and the 4670 being a slightly higher clocked version of the 4650 which is half the performance of the 9800gt, the new hd520 should more than crush it while using less power and enabling newer display connector standards.

520 > 5500 > 4670

Each level sees a 10 - 20 FPS increase most games

Do not expect to max anything out of course

Here's a review of the Razor Book Stealth featuring the HD520. You can compare the results against the Acer Aspire that has the HD5500.

Edit: Wait a minute, are you referring to the 4670m? Laptop graphics cards back then were roughly half the performance of their desktop counterparts.
