Powerline adapter is routing traffic through random VPN?

Today I bought the TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter kit

After plugging it in I wanted to check my speeds through speedtest.net and it detected that I was located in Ottawa....even though I'm in Mississauga....450 km away....

So i checked my location on google maps in the browser, same thing. OTTAWA
ipLeak test : OTTAWA

dnsleak test : OTTAWA

Can someone explain this?
I'm super paranoid that TP Link has some backdoor nonsense action thats routing my traffic through Canada's capital city more than 450km away

update: it seems to be my router?

Have you removed the powerline adapter and checked your location then? Tried re-setting the router?

Did you check your PC time zone?

Stupid, I know, but it might just be it.

Ryzen 7 3700X

Aorus GTX 1080ti

G.Skill TridentZ 3200MHz 2x8GB

Corsair SFX 750W

Phanteks Evolve Shift Air (glass front)

2x Corsair Force GS 120GB SSD (RAID 0)

Without powerline it seems my entire networks seems to routing through ottawa as well?
Before i installed the powerline everything was fine.
However now all my pc's show ottawa as the location

I have no idea if its the powerline or something else causing this

(and yes time zone is unchanged)

It's very unlikely that the powerline adapter is changing any routing settings or causing the router to use a VPN. I've had my router switch to a different location before (then again, I use a VPN on my devices most of the time), causing issues with some of my accounts, but just resetting the router fixed it.

I agree, I also use PIA's vpn services but it doesnt explain this change of locations on all the pcs in my house

I've already reset my router and modem once with a full power cycle, still shows Ottawa.

I'll try again

I mean resetting the router settings, not just power cycling it.

It seems that routers can sometimes pick up the wrong location and happen to update to that location. It can fix itself with time, but not always. It's a common "issue" if the router is moved, as they can often retain the same location they had stored before.

That's what I've read about it, but I didn't go into much detail when I was researching.

Strange. If it's your entire network, then it's likely to be either your router or modem. Most likely router.

Unless it's not an issue on your end, but on the ISP's end. They may be re-routing traffic for some reason, causing your location to change. I'm just speculating here, though.
