So I have been planning to build a pair of computers for two individuals who may look alike but are very different. I have been planning this for a while and had a terrible build ready for my friends but now someone has given me a great build idea. So the twins will be doing some slightly heavy gaming and intensive video editing. They want to start making youtube videos and start twitch streaming. The build is hardware only and I will not be getting them a gtx 1000 series or anything new like that because even though the hardware is new it isn't going anywhere there will always be AT LEAST one being sold somewhere, therefore they can get it for themselves if they want it. They are not into building computers but they want to get into it in the future which I will be helping them with in the future. What do you guys think?

I know you said you dont want to buy them one of the new 10xx cards,
But the 1070 is the exact same  MSRP as that 390x.

Agreed

and it makes no sense to spend money on old cards when the new ones are here

they may aswell just get the latest and greatest cards if they are buying a new computer

the budget was 1400$ and I just don't care about the new series of cards. I is a graphics card I will buy and use whichever one I see fit for the build. Oh I also forgot that they will only be playing in 1080p which means that the r9 390x is more than enough to play max settings at 1080p

I'd still suggest building the rigs with no GPU's with a promise at a future add in for them.
However, if you decide to still get the 390x cards, my other suggest would be to get a larger PSU.
With an 850w, they could add a second card later if they so choose too.

Why ask us for our opinions then?
We are just trying to help.

I aksed for your opinions to form and maybe reshape my idea, it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I am not trying to be rude or judgemental I just hate when people say that you should go for the latest and greatest thing when I love nostalgia and so far my favorite era of graphics cards are the hd 6900 series, r9 200 and r9 300 series, gtx 700 series, and gtx 900 series graphics cards. I love old cards but the new cards that have only been tested by high ranking people and famous youtubers are just not my thing. They haven't even released yet and they are the biggest thing to hit the market.
