Hi guys, this is my first post on the forum.

I have been saving up for a year and a half (using a 0.9ghz core m processor laptop in the meantime) to build the ultimate gaming PC. I have seen a lot of people helping other people with their PC part choices so I decided to ask you guys. I have a $5000 budget and I want to have the new GTX 1080 in it. I don't need a monitor or peripherals.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I may be able to stretch it a bit and you don't have to spend it all :)

Here's a preliminary build, with a 980ti as a placeholder and all quality parts IMO... in fact some may be overkill depending on your needs. I can always adjust it if needs be.  http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/7KcnmG

Yep it is for gaming and gaming only. Don't need overkill mobo but want the 1080 and a 950 pro 512gb, have no clue about case, power supply, ram or motherboard.

CPU: 5960x

Cooler: NZXT Kraken x61

GPU: 1080 sli (Hoping for a hybrid model from EVGA)

SSD 1: 950 Pro 512gb

You don't need 5960x for gaming only, it's a waste of money. You can get cheaper X99 cpus, but honestly, you don't even need X99, something like 6600k would do just fine in gaming and with sli. Also, the 950 pro is overkill for gaming, rather invest in larger storage space. 850 pro or even 850 evo will do just fine and it's half the price. If you're buying for e-peen, invest into looks instead of buying overkill hardware which you won't be utilizing at it's full potential.
