What is the better gpu for a budget folding at home pc. R9 380 or the GTX 960

If you can afford it, a second hand 970 (which should be going for pretty cheap with the 1080 release) is your best bet.

all i know is that the 380 preforms better in games, i dont know what floding benefits from but the 380 has more VRAM but the 960 has cuda

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

R9 380 has slightly more horse power, but it draws power and outputs more heat, so if you can cool it and don't mind a bit higher power bill, the 380 is better.
