Hi!

I have had my Corsair TX 750W Psu for 5 years now, and wanted to check if it still runs properly. I have no idea how to do that, but i read that i can use a program called Speedfan to check if the voltages are normal. Here is a picture of what the program analyzed when i was idle at the desktop: http://imgur.com/DjubyyR

I dont understand the voltages at all, so can anyone help me find out if this is normal, and my PSU still runs good?

Um, the +12v looks really bad (6.71) volts, but then again, you must have been running it in a system to get the results. If everything in the system seems to be working normally, I'd suspect that Speedfan is either inaccurate, or the "+12v" reading is perhaps, the current fan voltage. You should be able to check the voltages in the BIOS/UEFI.

Or you could try using HWMonitor to get the voltage readings.

One thing you should do would be to check if there's much dust inside the power supply (PSU). If there is you should open it up and clean the dust out. That will make it run cooler and last longer.

(CAUTION - unplug the the PSU from the wall and press the power button on the case to discharge the supply, before opening it.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

You are right, i think that program is bugged. I deleted it and downloaded hwmonitor like you suggested. Here is a picture of what it shows: http://imgur.com/reorXIB

What do you think about that? (while idle in windows).

HWMonitor is also not accurate. You need external equipment to properly test it.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Any way to notice bad power supply when using the computer?

If it shuts down randomly with blue screens, if it doesn't boot with a graphics card plugged in, if it is insanely loud - probably dying.

Cant say i have noticed any of those problems. Can a tired psu cause bad game performance or something like that, or will a tired psu only show signs like you said?

It shouldn't ruin your FPS or anything.
