this is kinda of a dumb question to ask on a tech forum but damn it you guys excel at answering questions so screw it any opinions on a good backpack that'll last me a number of years something that can hold at least a 15" laptop (no its not a macbook pro its a razer blade laptop before anyone yells at me) and has lots of room for books and other things

I have this solo backpack that's lasted me a couple years now. Got it from Ross for 15USD.

I've stored PS3s (for selling), PS3 games (also for selling), textbooks, my beastly 17 inch laptop, you name it. It's comfortable and I don't get back problems for it, and the build is sturdy. Lots of pockets, great organization, and even a special tablet pocket if you have one of those too.

Just now, Hackentosher said:

I like the north face backpacks, also check out osprey. If you're in America, hop into an REI and check out the two brands I mentioned.

As far as urban backpakcs go, I love my north face. Lots of space, compression straps, and sits colse to your back. Also looks really good.

my top tip: go for backpacks without ludicrous amounts of pockets. All you need is a main compartment with a laptop shleeve near your back, and two other pockets for phone + other small things.

I can't really speak for the 15.6" bag, but I do own the 17" one and it's amazing.  Am able to carry my laptop (17" sager), surface pro (for work), all chargers and accessories such as headphones, controllers and wires.  Also tools for work and sometimes shoes and a change of clothes if I wanna go out right after work.  Bag gets quite heavy with all that, however it holds up fine even with all the weight.  Should be able to handle all the books you need as the laptop goes in the top compartment and has decent padding.  The next compartment is huge which is where I store pretty much everything.  I was able to fit an xbox one in there with all wires and accessories just to give you an idea.  Only gripe I have is the first one I bought had a strap start to fall apart after a year of carrying about 45lbs+ of stuff every day.  Since then I got another bag and lowered the amount of things I carry each day and it has held up perfectly.
