How much ram can my laptop take

Hi, I have had a Sony vaio svf152c29m for about 2 years and it had slowly been getting slower. I was hoping that I would be able to up grade the ram in the laptop but I have had a lot of trouble finding the maximum amount of ram that it can take and I had hoped that you can help me with my problem. Thanks.

What CPU do you have?

CHances are you need an SSD

The CPU is quite weak, I'd say an SSD is a better bet

I think it's safe to assume it'll accept 8GB (2x4GB) if you're willing to gamble it might take 16GB(2x8GB) nothing more though. don_svetlio brings up a good point though. If your laptop has gradually been slowing down it's more likely been something else causing it. If your HDD is more than 50% full you'll start to lose speed. At first it won't be noticeable but as time goes on, 60%, 70%, 80% you'll really start losing performance.

RAM doesn't necessarily increase performance. If you're maxing out your RAM or very nearly (like 90% utilization +) then yes more RAM will help. However if you're not close to maxing it out more RAM won't make any real difference. You'll probably be better off looking into an SSD unless you are maxing out what RAM you have.

RAM won't affect gaming. If you want to run games you need a new laptop with a better CPU AND GPU.
