its new in box from my local micro center

Not a bad deal then! If your building an entire system then I'd look into skylake though since it is a touch better and usually not much more. I dunno about microcenter though

If you ask me, it's still great CPU.

For that price it seems like great deal.

I'm trying to find some i7 4790k for under 300€ in my country but sadly no1 is selling it.

i7 6700k isn't that much better. Maybe like 10%.

The only real difference would be i7 5820k, but i7 6800k will come in few months, so if you would like to get 2011-v3 CPU + mobo you should wait. But you should know that X99 motherboards start at 200$ price, and i7 6800k won't be under 400$. + you would need to buy new DDR4 ram. So that would cost you 2x more.

Do you have specific budget?

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

WD My Cloud 4TB

i dont really need x99 features so id rather save the money and buy an ssd later down the road.
