My budget is about 200 Cad. preferably a black board. ATX size

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, last few days this board was going for 189.99 CAD at NCIX as part of their anniversary special but unfortunately the price went back up; DirectCanada has it for $203.

I have the same issue. I was about to buy an Asus maximus VIII hero but all those DOAs are scaring me. Evga's z170 ftw doesn't have  USB  2.0 headers. Gigabyte are ugly as fuck and Asrock sucks, so everything left is MSI. Checked online  revews and not as much DOAs and quite good overall reviews. Might take a look at those. The M7 gaming board is quite nice imo.

A couple quick facts about user reviews. People who have had negative experiences with a product are more likely to leave a review, and popular products get more reviews.

Asus is probably the most popular brand for motherboards. They could have had a bad production run, lots of ppl get it in a short amount of time, and most of them leave a review for doas. Doesn't mean the board is particularly bad. A shoddy production run isn't that uncommon and isn't unique to a single company either.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

You're right. I didn't think it that way. Still don't know if I should risk it with the Asus or MSI. I personally prefer Asus, but since the mobo is going to be shipped to another country, I'm scared I'll have to RMA it and waste a bunch of cash and wait for weeks.

I have changed my mind and have decided to make a Skylake Pc build. I am not exactly sure what board to get and some suggestions would really help

If you can easily return the item to seller if anything bad happens,  let's say newegg, go for the best available. Asus imo is the best choice in that price  range.

Ah, well I can understand being scared of an RMA when dealing with international shipping. But really, your chances are pretty much equal across all manufacturers of getting a DOA or malfunctioning board.

I'm pretty biased towards Asus myself due to my personal experiences with them, and msi. But again let me stress I'm biased by the fact that every Asus product I've had has been flawless.ask around and you'll find lots of ppl with the reverse opinion.

Do what you think is best and don't look back. In the end its you, not me or anyone else that has to deal with the consequences of your choice.
