Hi,

Lots of people have the OP2 and say it is great. The OP3 looks amazing to me from now, like a beast, and some rumors claimed their would be an option for a 5.0" screen size, very appealing to me. It seems like the perfect phone for such a low price as well. But should I invest in this company? A quick google images search revealed that there is a phone by Oppo and another by OnePlus and they looks exactly the same!!! Many say they experience really weird bugs and problems like random overheating, screen lagging, random stutters, and other worse thing that shouldn't happen in such a high end phone... MAIN QUESTION = Are the phones actually good, or some bad, low QC Chinese ones, that just lag to bits? I really want a powerful android phone that's nice, not a laggy, chinese 'Apple ripoff' piece of crap.

TL;DR Is it worth purchasing a OnePlus device, or should I get a Nexus 5X instead? Taking customer service, reliability, and quality control into account. Really baffled here!!!!

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

i know a guy that has the oneplus one, and is very satisfied with it, to sum it up:

- customer service: is a joke in belgium no matter what you buy...

- reliability: 90% of smartphones have the same series of guts either way, theres not much that can go wrong here anymore.

- quality control: well, the oneplus looked like a decent phone, and the micro usb cable looks like the only one i havent had die yet, which is an insanely overpriced cable from hama. (hama is #goodenough quality for #highenough price...)

same OEM?

My friend, who loves to fiddle with android bought a OnePlus 2 and he loves it. Gotta say it seems to have really good quality and the only complaint he has is slight overheating after gaming with the phone but he has no regrets.

When it comes to price to performance then the OnePlus devices have been really good value.  I have a OnePlus One and it's great, but a coworker also got one and it was a lemon.  When he tried to get it fixed or replaced by the manufacturer he was pretty much SOL.  Any phone could end up having trouble, like a manufacturing defect.  The biggest reason to get the 5X would be to get better support from the manufacturer in the event you need it serviced or replaced.  Some might say get the Nexus 5X so you get the latest (vanilla) Android updates and it's also a valid point, but I've found that Cyanogen updates for the OnePlus One to be... timely enough for me.

I've had my OnePlus One since March of last year and it's been great. I started off with KitKat and then got updated to Lollipop and they just pushed an update a couple of weeks ago to Marshmallow. Keep in mind however I have the one with CyanogenOS so it's a little different than the OxygenOS ROM that they use now. It's super easy to root these phones and switch to another ROM however if that's something you are into.

OnePlus is good at advertising because most of the enthusiasts aren't that smart and only look at specs (i.e. 1080p ips screen=good, 3000mah battery=good, lots of cores=good); they don't consider other things such as calibration of the screen, efficiency of the phone as a whole (a 1080p ips panel from one manufacturer might be more power efficient than the other, power draw from other components such as the nand, ram, antenna, etc), or manufacturer update speed. A bigger manufacturer would pay attention to these things (Samsung and Apple generally) and provide a better experience. So because the spec sheet looks good doesn't mean the phone would be great to use. Look at the LG G5 for example- the spec sheet said metal body, but in actuality, it was a poorly manufactured phone because of the low quality control.
