ATX vs. Mini-ITX

Is there any differance between ATX and M-ITX? I know it's less PciE and RAM slots, but is there any solid advantage/disadvantage?

ITX user here. No regrets. If you're only planning on using one video card and aren't going to be upgrading every few months ITX is a really solid option especially if you work out of a small space.

Well duh, I think the OP could have figured that one out. He meant more in terms of practicality and ease of use and stuff.

Only the obvious differences between ATX and mITX. You won't get any expandability, etc.

 

But the smaller size that you get from mITX is so dang nice. The computer can be 1/3 of a normal ATX case.

My next computer is probably going to be DTX-sized (one PCIe slot longer than ITX), and a mCase M1. That way I'll be able to have a full-size graphics card and my sound card

Sounds good! Didn't know the NCase supported that form factor.

im a user of both ATX and ITX, ATX is definitely nice, easier to work with and nice upgrade paths, but the size of the mini tx  board makes up for all of that. As long as you get all you want on one go its pretty good.

I don't know, there's something immensely satisfying to me about knowing that my computer is as powerful if not more so than lots of ATX systems out there whilst also being smaller than most ATX systems out there. Really gives me the "having my cake and eating it too" sensation.

yea, my mini itx system is one of my favorite systems ive built, it may not be very powerful (g3258/750ti) it still packs a punch in a cute little package.

i would hate myself if i had gone with a M-ATX board because its too small for me, i like to have a bunch of expansion cards and shit in my PC so M-ATX isnt for me but if you dont need that then M-ATX can open up a whole new world of case options

I somewhat like having my current computer in my super crappy case (Antec Sonata III), showing up to a LAN with a far better computer than expected.

 

Oh, and here's a picture of DTX with the nCase. It's finicky with sizes above the normal ITX, but it can be done.
