is the i5-3210m worth 100.00 us ?

I'v got an HP Probook 4440s with a celeron b840 and i was wondering if it would be worth it to go up to a i5-3210m. They are the same socket type and other models of my laptop have the i5 instead so im fairly sure its compatible.

I'd probably be against changing any laptop CPUs or GPUs. Laptops have a power requirement and may be overloaded if you put a more powerful CPU in there. It can cause crashes.

they are both 35watt, the only think i was worried about was could there be a cooling difference or wouth the laptops have the same heatsink?

You would be fine swapping it. Do a check for it, maybe someone did the same swap and has success or failed.

People still upgrade components like this in their laptops? Why don't people just use desktops for raw power :(
