While I was helping a friend with his laptop, I noticed that in task manager, CPU usage is usually between 10-30% and disk image is 100% most of the time (while idling!)... What do you think is happening? Is it a virus or he just needs a new hard drive?

CPU: AMD A6-6310 APU @ 1.8GHz

Try disabling the SuperFetch service and see if that drops it. Just google how to disable it with whichever version of Windows they are running.

Ok. Thx...

I'd suggest trying it and testing it out. If it's still pegged at 100% then I'd re-enable the service and install Malwarebytes and run a full scan on it along with Adware Cleaner to see if it's possibly from maleware as you previously indicated it might be.
