Designing Information System

Hi,

Lets say I have to computerize a school that is manual based. What problems might the manual based system have for the school?

Thanks

Slower work production, means more money spent.

Overall, it costs more time on things for administration (administration as in file management not system administration) e.g; registration, attendance and so on will have to be done manually taking 4 minutes a day. Every day for 5 years for each student. That adds up a lot.

Where as computerized is would be 1 minute registration, stored on school servers. You can track attendance, do more things. Look at data for each student and flag ones that are not doing well in a matter of seconds compared to sifting through sheets of paper.

EDIT

Overall, it will cost one large lump sum to implement the computers/servers. But over the space of a few years, it will even out and you will be better off. And productivity will go up.
