Long range wifi

I am getting a new apartment, however, the internet is very expensive in our area. My apartment is 150m away from the college campus. I am think about if I use a long range wifi receiver will it work for me. I have two  consider

-there are 3 building between my apartment and the campus will the single strong enough

- there will be a lot of wifi in this range, is there will be a lot of 2.4ghz  wifi  disturb so even I get the single it will be a bad single

Wont work. Firstly in order to do "Long Range" you have to use a setup of directional antenna's. Linus did a video on some Ubiquiti products that would work. Also, there are legality reasons why this is a bad idea. Most ISP's will not allow this, as its against terms of service. Also Im a college student. Most if not all the WiFi access is in the buildings and not outside. Im not sure what building materials that college uses but Eastern Michigan University buildings are cinder block and brick. So sharing WiFI is out of the question. Plus as you stated, there are a lot of competing WiFI access points on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghzs might work if you have the dual antenna setup I mentioned earlier. The Biggest issue, the college probably only has single band WiFi setup. And if that WiFi connection is setup like my colleges, then its a pain to use as we have to log in each time we connect. 

 

So unless the college will allow you to hook up an Antenna on the roof of one of the buildings and you have another antenna at your residence. I would say just pay for the internet service.
