Bridging 3-Pin fans

The_Denks

Hello there

I have some 3 pin fans in the front of my case, but my motherboard does not have enough headers for all the fans in my case. I have ordered a better one, but that arrive for two weeks.

Is there a way to bridge any of the pins on a standard 3 pin fan to a molex adapter? (I dont care if they are running full speed, it is just a temporary fix)

Thanks

Callum

There are adapters made for this. Why do you even need extra fans?

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

i would suggest fan splitters so you can still control them

but if you wanna connect them to molex then a molex fan hub will do the job

though there are pwm fan hubs too or fan controllers, tons of different options to control the fans

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I am upgrading from an mini itx to a mid atx, and needed more than just 3 fans in my case, but the mobo only supports 3

That's along the line of what I used if I just wanted a temporary quick-fix for what you're doin.

I meant just 2 wires sticking out of the connector to the fan things. I don't want to have to buy anything.(its only temporary)

2 in front, 1 in back, 1 for cpu cooler

its an aesthetic thing. it will really bug my ocd.

All I wan to know is, can I bridge two of the molex pins to the connector on m 3 pin fan or not?

If its only temporary solution, can't you just wait?

Maybe with soldering. But that might just blow fan.

Its two weeks until my new mobo arrives. I live in a really remote area so everything takes almost double as long to arrive, so even if I did order an adapter, the motherboard would arrive first.

Two weeks is quite short time to solder few wires and possibly break fans. Why not wait? You can have decent temps with 3 fans. Actually adding more change only bit and only if you have really packed case with hot-ish GPU.

So soldering is your only DIY option. Taping fan side wire metal piece to molex is just bad idea. They aren't going to make very good connection and 12V sparks flying inside your case doesn't sound very nice to other components. Doesn't your PSU have fan headers by itself?
