Need help with cpu choice

Hi guys, I'll be needing a cpu upgrade very soon and I wanted to hear your opinion for it.

My current specs:

AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz

2x4gb Transcend RAM

GTX 950 Xtreme Gaming 2gb

Seasonic S12 II 520W

1Tb WD Blue HDD

So my current cpu is an obvious bottleneck for my gpu so a cpu upgrade is a must. I need your opinion on my next two choices:

Haswell based:

i5 4460 for 160e

ASRock H97 Anniversary for 68e (cheapest 1150 socket mobo I can get)

This means I can keep my ddr3 ram

Skylake based:

either an I3 6100 for 110e or i5 6500 for 185e

Asus H110-PLUS for 75e (cheapest 1151 socket mobo I can get)

And I'd have to get ddr4 ram either 8gb for 40e or 16gb for 70e

I have no idea which is better not just performance wise but I'm also looking for some sort of future proofing meaning that I get to upgrade my cpu later down the line. Thanks ahead!

I5 4660, you can keep your RAM, thats basically the entire reason to get it, its what i would go with because its the most economical route

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yikes, I haven't heard of the Athlon series for a few years, surprised you lasted this long.

Honestly, if you're really going for long term possible future proofing I would go with the skylake build because i don't know your budget I can't really make finite suggestions on the mobo/ram.

"This is a bad idea"
