Hi guys, so since i play Division my gpu drops the clock frequently. Anybody a clue why?

I know that pic is temperature but clock does the same

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

GPU: MSI GTX1080 Ti Aero @ 2 GHz (watercooled) CPU: Ryzen 5600X (watercooled) RAM: 32GB 3600Mhz Corsair LPX MB: Gigabyte B550i PSU: Corsair SF750 Case: Hyte Revolt 3

Since the photo seems to show the temperature as "Min: 25, Max:40," I'm assuming you took this photo when the GPU was idle. How hot is it getting when you play The Division?

The GTX 770 (and most modern GPUs) have a feature that allows the card to reach a certain temperature—typically 80°C—and then start to throttle the clock speed down if necessary to not exceed that temperature. Depending on the temperature and how much it's throttling, that may be why.

Yeah i know Bad pic but the clock does the same under load even when Not reaching temp. Temp Limit i Set to 85. Ill send more pics when i get home.

BURNER.png

so this is what my 770 does during division. doesnt matter if its an intense scene or im just standing there crafting, when the clock is up is perfect when it drops it unplayable

Everytime the GPU goes down from 1176mhz to w/e the lower clock is, the GPU usage drops aswell, immesively and so does the power draw.

Try without the overclock (reset & apply)

Try a different nvidia driver version, older or newer one.

You could also try to run with 100% forced fanspeed and see if it still happens then.

Does it only happen in division or on other games / benchmarks aswell? - if it does happen everywhere and the above suggested stuff does not help, I would say your GPU or PSU is probably damaged or the PCI-E cables arent connected properly into the GPU itself, maybe the GPU is not seated properly.. since it only seems to use somewhat 70% powerdraw even at 99% usage.

btw. offtopic:

if you are going to post a german afterburner screen on an english forum, it probably would not be a bad idea to at least write out what the really wired german descriptions like "prozessortakt, mhz" would be on english or just change the language of afterburner alltogether. If I would not happen to speak that language myself I most certainly would have not bothered to help you there, just saying ;)

@Nord or quote me if you want me to reply back. I don't necessarily check back or subscribe to every topic.

Amdahls law > multicore CPU.

so i checked the cables and that helped a lot. now the power is up at times at 99 % but usually around 80-90%. but now i have a different problem. from time to time the usuage will drop down to nearly nothing for no reason. the clock is stable until the usuage drops then the utilization flag gets raised and the gpu clocks down. i cant figure one good reason for usuage to go down since it happens when im gaming. doesnt matter if its division or borderlands. ill uploads a graph when i get home from work.
