So I want to build a small PC for my parents, but I'm not sure what to choose. I'm kinda stuck between the 7870k and the 7890k, although those are not my final choices. I am free to suggestions and PC partpicker links!

Well, my mom will do work related stuff, but my dad will also play some non-demanding games (eg. GTA 4 or use emulators, he's quite a retro freak)

Have look I3 or mid level I5 would do it nicely.

Have look h97 or skylake if thay want newer board.

GTX 950 or 960 would do it for graphics.

PSU 500w to 600w.

Hard drive 1TB.

Ram 1600 MHZ or 1688Mhz CL9 and if Skylake DRR4 2133MHZ.

If you are look at those CPU they have the same APU the only differences is the processing speed between the two and you need to get high MHZ ram if you are going to run games of of the APU.

you're going to want neither of those, as they aren't much faster than the A8 APUs, if you just want a basic low power and cheap gaming rig, rather hard to beat something like an A8 7600 or A8 7650K, maybe the A10 7860K if it's cheap

I hear the integrated graphics on Skylake cpus is actually pretty strong. I if that's the only kind of games your dad plays that should be fine. If you ever want anymore power then that you could pick up something simple like a 750 ti.

I do think it's kind of shit how Intel doesn't include stock heatsinks, even on lower end models so you always have to buy an aftermarket cooler now, even for casual use pcs. I went with the Noctua one there since it was low profile and Noctua makes good coolers.

Motherboard is a simple B150 one. I went with 1 stick of ram since it only has two slots.

Went with a single ssd since that's all your parents will be doing. you can add a hdd if you want more space.

Case I just went with a mini ITX one that wasn't too expensive and looked pretty alright.

As for power supply, just went with a random SeaSonic one, their psus should be good.
