DRAM not showing correct frequency

Go to solution Solved by Torn,

Per stick is not a good way to put it as most 4 stick sets only use dual channel as well. The XPM profile sets the total frequency, each channel runs at 1/2 that frequency. While it is possible to overclock your RAM higher than your XMP profile, no you will never run each channel as high as 2400.

Hello.

Iv had my PC together for a while now and iv finally got round to correcting my RAM frequency.

Easy job i though.

Switch XMP on.

Frequency set to 2400 in the DRAM frequency drop down.

However when you go the the front page under 'DRAM Status' it shows its still set to 1333.

Everywhere else shows the correct speed but not there.

Am i going mad or is it just a quirk of the BIOS?

Its a asus Z97-k with a intel i5 4690k cpu.

I am assuming that at this point you have made the changes to the XMP profile and told the BIOS/UEFI to save those settings...?

If not, the main page of the BIOS/UEFI might not reflect the changed XMP profile until you tell it to save those changes.

If you apply it and reboot, does it show the correct reading then?

Going on the assumption that you have dual channel ram. Each channel runs at 1/2 the set frequency. Use download and run CPU-Z, it will tell you the number of channels and the frequency of each.

Do this xD

MY RIG

I5 6600k

16gb Corsair vengeance 2666mhz

MSI Gaming X 1070

WD blue 2tb

samsung 850 evo 250gb

EVGA supernova G2 650w

CPU-Z reports the actual clock rate, which is half the marketing speed everyone else uses. So CPU-Z reporting 1200 MHz is correct for DDR rated at 2400. The number of channels has nothing to do with this.
